Learning from and with each other happens everywhere and all the time in agile learning organizations.
Microlearning happens when content is delivered in bite-sized (3-5 minutes) bursts at the point of learning need. Learning in the flow of work happens when learning is integrated seamlessly into everyday workflows and activities. These types of learning are enabled and expanded when communities – employees, students, families – learn from each other continuously.
The thing is, leaders – executives, managers, supervisors, others with people in their charge – don’t always see themselves as teachers, content curators, or coaches. Leaders must be the designers and curators of content and experiences that meet the needs and reflect the style of the people in their care (employees) so that they can flexibly navigate our ever-changing world. As the future of work arrives it will be organizations that can unlearn what’s outdated and inefficient and learn what’s needed with the greatest pace and highest quality will set the tone, build the coolest stuff, and lead the way.
Learning agility is the new widget.
