My Tension

Tension happens in work and life all the time. Recently, I found myself in situations where tension was both palpable and enabling. The first instance occurred during the planning of an important event. Initially, there was considerable confusion and tension regarding people’s roles and what was expected of them. Misunderstandings and conflicts were rampant, but through open dialogue and clear communication, we redefined our roles and expectations, ultimately turning the event into a spectacular success. Another scenario involved a technology project where two team members missed crucial details about the data and functionality requirements for a project. Instead of descending into blame and frustration, we chose to collaborate and find solutions together, turning a potentially disastrous situation into a learning experience.
