This weekend my youngest son burst into the office and proudly showed me his Lego creation – it’s me sipping coffee while riding a “pizza delivery hover bike with other foods, like apples and fried chicken!” And so the Lego Dad Activity was born!
This invention makes a lot of sense. I often pick them up and drop them off via bicycle. Rarely do I arrive without snacks. Pizza is life. Coffee is life. And so it goes. Design skills were applied. Tinkering followed feedback. It took co-creation to get the fried chicken in the mailbox. We experienced the business case for playing every day.
Proudly, I shared my son’s creation with other dads, who, at first, shared articles like this one to highlight the value of Lego enthusiasm. And then the Lego Dad Activity was born when I asked my friends to ask their kids to make a creation about them. It went better than expected.
Here is Phil having some food near his waterslide garden with a flamethrower (probably so he can read the Lego News super clearly).
Nathan is snowboarding (seriously) while sipping multiple drinks en route to his bicycle.
The best thing about the Lego Dad Activity, from my perspective, was listening with enthusiasm as my son explained with even more enthusiasm the pizza delivery bike (it was a concept at first because the pizza was missing … we found it under the couch a few hours later).
We should play every day because doing so creates connection and unlocks potential.
